Thoughts from Innocence - POE Blog

Ever heard of blue carbon?

Blue carbon sounds cool, and it certainly is. Coastal ecosystems like tidal marshes, seagrass, and mangroves sequester and store carbon from the atmosphere at much higher concentrations than can be stored in forests on land. This carbon is called “blue” carbon and is now a central part of the conversation on climate change.

Can seaweed-eating cows help save the planet?

Ask anyone what the number one factor of climate change is, and you will likely receive a calamity of answers. From factories and cars to ocean impacts and deforestation, we have done a lot to the Earth. But what about agriculture? Livestock, including cattle, goats, and sheep, emit methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, at quantities similar to the warming effect and global impact of the transportation industry...

The ocean is our garbage dump

What have we always done with garbage we don’t know what to do with? Easy… just dump it in the ocean! Throughout history, communities around the globe have dumped waste, from household trash to industrial byproducts, into the world’s oceans with the belief that water could mix and disperse unlimited amounts of anything...

the actions of one person don't matter?

kids can't make a difference?

When Benjamin Franklin was 15 years old, he became a published author in a local newspaper under the pseudonym "Silence Dogood" advocating for free speech.

climate change isn't real?

the actions of one person don't matter?

kids can't make a difference?

Well, NASA has a whole site about it...and check out this image of global temperature over time. The causes, however, are still up for debate.

If everyone makes an effort, great things can be accomplished.

the world can't change?

technology isn't making an impact.

the actions of one person don't matter?

Ever heard of a revolution? Of course the world can change! Green science, environmental conservation, national parks preservation, and animal protection are all steps in the right direction to create positive change in how we live and interact with the earth.

technology isn't making an impact.

technology isn't making an impact.

All you have to do is look around... green science is making its way to cars, houses, factories, and more. Carbon capture, electric cars, wind turbines, solar energy, and plastic-eating enzymes just scratch the surface of what we are doing to protect our earth from the mess we made.

we need fossil fuels?

technology isn't making an impact.

technology isn't making an impact.

Well, with our current lifestyle, we do. However, with new and growing interest in earth friendly technologies, we might one day be able to leave these natural resources in the ground by choice.
